If you’re thinking about spending Christmas in the Lake District, join us at The Bridge Hotel and reign in the festive season in the heart of Britain’s most scenic valley.
A traditionally warm and friendly welcome awaits you, accentuated by delicious food, real crackling fires, a selection of local ales and hand-picked wines. Christmas in Buttermere is something truly special, combining festive fun with breathtaking surroundings. Join us and indulge in all that Christmas in the Lake District has to offer as we take care of all the hard work for you.
Should you have such a wonderful time that you wish to extend your stay, additional nights are available around Christmas from as little as £70.00 per person with Breakfast included.
Please note, we do require a non-refundable/transferable deposit of £200.00 per person to confirm.

- Enjoy a traditional warm Lakeland welcome. Take the chance to stretch your legs and enjoy a drink in the Hotel bar as you catch up with old friends and new.
- A tantalising delight awaits you this evening: a three course a la carte dinner highlighting and celebrating our local Cumbrian cuisine and produce.
- Following dinner, we invite you to relax with complimentary tea and coffee as you unwind around the crackling fire awaiting the arrival of Christmas 2025.
- Merry Christmas! We eagerly await your company at breakfast to start your day off the right way. Whether you are gearing up for an adventurous fell walk, a gentle stroll around the lake or kicking back to enjoy the tranquillity of the Hotel, breakfast is a must!
- Following breakfast, be sure to collect your specially crafted and prepared packed lunch from reception before you head off to enjoy Christmas in your own way.
- Mid-afternoon, please charm us with your company for pre-dinner bubbly and canapes.
- A fabulous Christmas Dinner awaits you in the evening, followed by complimentary tea and coffee, as you digest and unwind in the ambience of our Lakeland setting.
- Greet Boxing Day in the true fashion with a full Cumbrian breakfast, or if Christmas Day antics has expanded your waistline, enjoy one of our lighter options.
- Enjoy a leisurely morning while you look ahead for complimentary food and drinks, including tea and coffee with the addition of homemade mulled wine and mince pies in the afternoon.
- Delight in one final dinner, specially crafted as a Boxing Day farewell. With something to suit all palates, we look forward to celebrating and rounding out this Christmas experience with you.
- One final breakfast (just in case you haven’t had enough food!) as you begin your homeward bound journey. Whether it is your first time or four twenty first time, as ever we will be sad to see you leave and thank you wholeheartedly for joining us at The Bridge Hotel for Christmas.

Our New Year eve Packages 2025
Experience a New Year like no other in Buttermere and make memories to last a lifetime. Join us at The Bridge Hotel as we look back over the year and welcome 2026. Immerse yourself in a warm welcome, mouth-watering local cuisine and ales and bask in the tranquility of the Lake District or simply relax by the roaring fireplace as we reign in the New Year with friends new and old.

- A traditionally warm Lakeland welcome awaits your arrival, then allow us to tempt you to sit by the log fire, or in the bar, and unwind from your journey as your New Year holiday officially commences with a sparkling glass of Prosecco.
- Pre-dinner, enjoy our nouveau bubbly and canape selection, as we invite you to enjoy catching up with old friends and making new fireside in our cosy Resident’s Lounge.
- Tonight, feast on a tantalising Six course dinner, meticulously crafted by our Chefs, as we reflect on and commence our farewell to the year that was 2025.
- Welcome 2026 with another glass of bubbly, and the hope that the New Year will bring with it new beginnings, whilst enjoying the peace and tranquillity of the Hotel and its spectacular surroundings.
- Ease into your day with a Bubbly breakfast to kick start the New Year. Spend the rest of the day as you wish – perhaps honouring the great tradition of partaking in a stroll around Buttermere, breathing in the crisp air as your boots crunch on the frozen soil underfoot, or simply relaxing with a book and enjoying a cosy nook. Do not forget your complimentary packed lunch, the perfect accompaniment to any outing, before you set out on your winter venture!
- Upon your return, a warming treat of homemade mince pies and complimentary tea, coffee and homemade mulled wine will be waiting for you throughout the afternoon.
- For many it will be time to leave, though not before enjoying one last breakfast with us. However, please do feel free to take your morning at a leisurely pace as there is absolutely no rush should you wish to stay a little longer to join us for a spot of lunch or afternoon tea.
